Six Better PC Performance Tips You Simply Must Know
One of the most used and abused items at home and at work is undoubtedly one–s computer. And while we rely on it more and more, it seems that only few really go out of their way to ensure that their computers provide excellent PC performance.
When PC performance is the topic of discussion, people think of expensive software or expensive tools right away. Hold that thought!

Back–to–Basics: How to Improve PC Performance
- Don´t treat your PC like your closet. Do you really need 10 copies of that picture or MP3 file? How many back–ups do you really need for that document to make you feel secure that it will never be lost? Folks, learn to delete duplicate files! Your PC is not composed of an endless stream of storage space and keeping files ‘forever’ will simply consume too much valuable hard disk space.
- The virtues of uninstalling applications you don´t need. Remove unnecessary or unused programs. We all love to download freeware and test it on our PCs. In reality, however, we end up not liking these applications and simply forget about them. Well, don´t just forget them... REMOVE THEM. Not only will they (again) consume valuable space but most freeware actually come with spyware and adware so you are making your PC vulnerable by just having them installed!
- ‘Temporary’ means ‘short-term’. Each time you go online and visit a site, information about that Web page you are viewing is downloaded onto your PC! Now, you can dictate how long you want this information to stay on your PC but most people are not aware of this so these temporary files end up staying with you for a LONG time and before you know it, everything is S–L–O–W. The next time you open your web browser, go to Internet Options, clear your browsing history and start deleting your Temporary Internet Files.
- Defrag your PC. As you open and close programs and files on your PC, parts of it are ‘scattered’ all over your hard disk. These fragmented parts make it harder for applications to open them (i.e., the software needs to gather the pieces first). Defragging your PC is simply grouping these scattered pieces together, turning them into complete–file segments (and freeing up hard disk space).
- Another one bites the dust... Dust, grime, heat and corrosion can slow down PC performance so subject it to regular cleaning. You can do this yourself (using only wipes and cleaners specifically made for this!) or bring your computer to PC maintenance and repair service providers who can do the cleaning for you. Cleaning your PC every six months is recommended.
- Invest in reliable registry cleaner software. For merely pennies each day, you can have software that actually cleans your Windows registry, removing bits and pieces that have been left behind by failed program applications, incomplete un–installations, old and obsolete computer drivers, and more! The best part is you don´t even need to bother yourself with these ‘dirty files’ on your registry. Simply run registry cleaner such as RegCure on your PC and perform PC performance maintenance on auto-pilot.
