Microsoft Registry Cleaner FAQ´s

A Microsoft registry cleaner is as essential to your computer as the operating system itself. It keeps your Windows operating system healthy, running smoothly and in tip-top condition just as vitamins keep a person strong and alert at all times.

With the importance of Microsoft registry cleaners, here are some frequently asked questions (and answers!) we would like to share with you.

What Is The Registry?

The registry is the part of the computer system where information on computer settings is stored. The registry contains profiles on the documents, software, hardware and users of the computer system.

How Does the Registry Become Erroneous?

The registry becomes erroneous when it contains invalid information. Some causes are the following.
  • Not using certain applications for a long time.

  • Downloading and installing new versions of applications without removing previous installations.

  • Uninstalling software without using the “Add or Remove Programs” feature in the Control Panel.

  • Moving a file or object in the registry manually.

How Can the Registry be Cleaned?

The registry can easily be cleaned by using a Microsoft registry cleaner. The cleaner can search for and eliminate erroneous entries in the registry. All it takes is a click of the mouse and the registry cleaner does all the work.

After the Microsoft registry cleaner scans your computer, you can choose to either remove all the error items or select the ones you want to remove.

Why is it NOT Recommended to Clean the Registry On Your Own?

Manually cleaning the registry is quite risky, as it would be difficult to determine which items are for which programs. Removing the wrong registry entry might cause errors in the application or might make it stop working altogether.

What if Something is Accidentally Deleted from the Registry?

You can use the System Restore feature of your Windows operating system. It is also handy to use registry cleaner software that has a Backup and Restore feature.

How Often Should the Registry be Cleaned?

It is recommended that a complete scan of the Windows registry be run at least once a month. (A good registry cleaner should have a Scheduler feature to enable you to set it and have the utility run automatically.) However, it really depends on how often you use your PC. For instance, if you use it often and download, install and uninstall applications all the time, then you should run your registry cleaner more frequently.

These are but a few of the questions we constantly receive concerning registry cleaners. Feel free to ask your own question… we welcome it!
